Protect your house from fire by using light steel structure houses

Every year in the United States, we experience over 10,000 structure fires involving buildings under construction. That’s a lot of smoldering 2x4s.
And before you ask—no, those fires are not caused by evil arsonist squirrels with tiny blowtorches (although we can’t completely rule that out). Most are sparked by the usual suspects: careless smoking, hot work, temporary heaters, and construction mishaps.
But here’s the fun part: guess how many major construction fires occurred in projects using prefabricated cold-formed steel framing last year?
That’s right. Zero.
Why? Because steel doesn’t burn. Cold-formed steel doesn’t smolder, ignite, or politely turn to ash when someone leaves a propane heater unattended. It just stands there. Judging your plywood.
So, if you’re a developer and you like fire risk, rising insurance premiums, and watching your timeline go up in smoke—then by all means, frame in wood.
But if you prefer durability, safety, and fewer emergency visits from your local fire department—cold-formed steel might be worth a look.
Unless, of course, you’ve already got a standing order with the squirrels.
